For this job, we needed to construct rock groynes along a riverbank to protect it from erosion.

We created tracks down to the river edge (for each groyne) for ease of access. Biggest boulders are placed first, a few metres out in the river. The rest of the rocks are placed next, working back toward the riverbank - eventually creating a triangle shaped rock formation.

The finished groynes should help redirect the flow of the river away from the bank and create a calm spot between each groyne. Over time, sand and other sediment will be naturally deposited here - this will help prevent further erosion from floods in the future.
